Fall 2015 Top Seller

We have rolled out so many new products to kick off the changing colors of the leaves and the summer air turning crisp, as well as brought out some oldies, but goodies, for our collection. We introduced the Polar Fleeces, some new layered, long-sleeve tees and of course new scarves and hand warmers! Have you ever wondered what our pick is for this new, Fall collection? We’re here to share with you all about the Cat in the Moon tee that we are just raving about!

Cat in the Moon Tee, with the Halloween Cat Scarf to complete the Halloween look.

Cat in the Moon Tee, with the Halloween Cat Scarf to complete the Halloween look.

The Cat in the Moon tee as seen to the left is perfect for Halloween, especially when paired with the right accessory! Not only that, but Green 3 founder Sandy Martin said she wears her “Cat Moon” tee at any time of the year because it’s not just geared towards Halloween, but to cats in general. We are huge animal lovers, so we love anything that supports that!

We at Green 3 believe the Cat in the Moon tee is so popular this Fall because of the huge craze of cats on the Internet. Have you ever watched Keyboard Cat, uploaded in 2007 with more than 41 million views? Or have you seen the Surprised Kitty, uploaded two years after Keyboard Cat, but with 76 million views?

It’s no shocker to us that cats are a huge part of today’s society and pop culture, something we gauge our inspiration on. We love hearing about what people are going berserk over, and we take that love and that passion and turn it into a garment that we’re just as passionate about.

What are your thoughts on our Cat in the Moon tee? Would you wear it year-round? Comment on Facebook or Tweet to us @green3apparel to let us know. In the meantime, check out Green 3’s website here, and shop for all of our new Fall and Halloween items, or get your Cat in the Moon tee now!

Uncommon Goods & The Varsity Letter Jacket

Green 3 and Uncommon Goods have worked closely together on fun and unique projects, such as the Personalized Tree Throw. A few years back, we partnered with Uncommon Goods and Ripon Athletics in Berlin, Wisconsin on the Letterman’s Cardigan.

Navy Letterman Sweater

The programmed offered Uncommon Goods customers the ability to customize their own cardigan with a large “ major” letter on the front of the sweater, numerals on one arm, and a captain’s star or chevron on the other. Ripon Athletic made the cardigans on site in Berlin, WI where they knit the fabric, did the cut and sew, and ultimately the customization. Customers had a choice of either navy blue or red, giving a cool authentic retro look that was perfect for any wardrobe.

Getting ready to be sent to the Boys and Girls Club!

After a few years of selling, it was time to move on to new items.  Unfortunately there were some excess sweaters already made and sitting in inventory. Jim and Sandy thought of a couple options for Uncommon Goods to use the extras, including donating them to the local Boys and Girls club in Oshkosh.  If you know anything about Uncommon Goods mission, you won’t be surprised to learn that donation was the route they wanted to go. Thanks to their generosity, we are boxing these sweaters up and will be dropping them off shortly.  Soon some of the great kids at the Oshkosh Boys and Girls club will have an extra sweater when Wisconsin winter hits. We love working with companies who are willing to give back to communities around the nation. A big shout out to Uncommon Goods from Green 3 and Ripon Athletic, who appreciate the fact that an awesome customer in Brooklyn, New York is making the lives of kids in Oshkosh just a little bit better.  Thank you, Uncommon Goods!

Why Green 3 uses acrylics and polyester

Green 3 is known for its array of fabrics, such as the use of organic cotton, recycled cotton, wool, silk, acrylics and more. Our mission as a successful small business is to be as responsible and ethical as possible while keeping our manufacturing in the USA. Within that process, we do use acrylic and polyester fabrics with our organic and recycled materials.

You may be wondering why, and today’s blog is just about that.

The acrylic is there to bind the fibers together for better strength, and can make the garments machine washable.

A lot of Green 3’s garments use 25% acrylic with the majority 75% pre-consumer recycled material. If the garments were 100% recycled, the materials wouldn’t be strong enough to hold together, and people would be unhappy with the finished products.

We are working to keep jobs within the United States.

The polyester that is used in our brand new Polar Fleeces are a way to keep jobs in Hurley, Wisconsin, where a small factory employs hundreds of people throughout the Northwoods. They are able to sew different garments together before they are sent back to Green 3 in Oshkosh. Plus, the ink used on the polyester is one of the most environmentally friendly processes Green 3 has used! It uses less ink, water, paper and energy

We are keeping our small business alive, along with other small businesses across the U.S., while being as eco-friendly as possible.

We love that our business sticks to USA made garments with a lot of mixtures of fabrics. We work on small projects from recycled materials around the office, as well as make big projects with bundles of recycled materials. Referring back to the top of the blog, if the garments were made from 100% recycled materials, the garments would be frail and would not last as well as we want them to. We want the best for our customers, as well as the environment.

If you have any more questions about the materials used in our garments, do not hesitate to ask via Facebook or Twitter! If you don’t receive our newsletter, check out our website, scroll to the bottom, and enter your name and email. Voila- you’re signed up for our great deals and other Green 3 news!

Sandy had this beautiful pattern left over and couldn’t think of a better way to use it than with some light-weight ponchos! The design, and color scheme, is perfect for fall when the weather is still a little too warm for a sweater, but cool enough that you need something to cover your arms. The flow of the fabric is a perfect overlay over any body type!

We at Green 3 are very proud of our skirts. They are made from pre-consumer recycled material with a distinct jersey band that is soft, stretchy and comfortable. We have had women praise them throughout the U.S., happy that they can gain or lose weight and still wear the same size. We’ve even had a customer who was pregnant and had no worries as she could wear Green 3’s skirts with comfort without having to buy additional clothing.

At our shows this Fall, we are going to focus on some non-Green 3 line pieces. That means these are garments you may have never seen before. One particular focus we’ll have at Holy Hill is our skirts. When we reach the ends of rolls of cloth, we take that for fun and unique projects. The skirts we’re showcasing on Saturday are unusual, high-end fabrics, such as different wool, silks and more.
