the story of a green 3 scarf*…

Last week we talked about our tee shirts – what about one of our scarves?

This process also starts with an idea or inspiration – but the design work is a little more time consuming. Our artist works with individual pixels when designing our knit goods: 1 pixel = 1 stitch. Once the design is created, colors must be chosen from a selection of recycled cotton yarns. The design is then sent from our office, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to an 80+ year old family owned knitting company in New York.

The knitter receives the yarn from a supplier in Georgia that specializes in manufacturing recycled cotton yarns. Once the design has been knit, it must be washed (pre-shrunk) and then it moves on to be cut and sewn. After the product is finished, it’s boxed up and shipped to our warehouse in Oshkosh, Wisconsin – ready to ship all over the U.S. and Canada!

*This process is the same for all of our knit goods: handwarmers, hats, mittens, sweaters and throws. All of these products are made with 75% pre-consumer recycled cotton and 25% acrylic.

Photo Shoot & Development

Here at green 3 we are wrapping up our development phase and just waiting on a couple last minute samples – then the fun begins!

This week we started our photo shoot (see preview photos below) for Fall/Holiday! This is an exciting time for us as our artist, Alex, begins to design our new catalog filled with new products! We still have some holiday shots to take in a couple weeks and we’ll be all set to begin proofing followed by printing. Did you know our catalog is printed using soy-based inks on recycled paper?

Once that is done we start getting ready for our trade shows – this year we will take part in Wild Birds Unlimited, Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishing Market, NY NOW & Wisconsin Holiday Market in Kohler Wisconsin (list subject to change).

In between all these trade shows we will move on to spring development and the cycle begins again!

Here are some fun fall accessory images from our photo shoot – which is your favorite?
